Jugular fin

In some fishes (Blennies: fishes under Blennioidei family), pelvic fins are situated far forwards in the anterior region of the pectoral fins. This type of pelvic fins is called as jugular fins.

Jugular means of, relating to, or located in the region of the neck or throat. Fin means a flattened appendage on various parts of the body of many aquatic vertebrates and some invertebrates, including fish and cetaceans, used for propelling, steering, and balancing.

ঘাড়ের পাখনা:

কোন কোন মাছের (Blennies: Blennioidei গোত্রের মাছ) শ্রোণী পাখনা (Pelvic fin) বক্ষ পাখনার (Pectoral fin) অবস্থানের অগ্রভাগে (Anterior region) অবস্থান করে। এ ধরণের শ্রোণী পাখনাকে ঘাড়ের পাখনা (Jugular fin) বলা হয়ে থাকে।
