প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষ

যে কোষের নিউক্লিয়াস আদর্শ পর্দা বা ঝিল্লি দ্বারা আবদ্ধ নয় তাকে প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষ বলে। মনেরা (Monera) বা প্রোকেরিওটা (Prokaryota) জীবরাজ্যের প্রাণী যেমন ব্যাকটেরিয়া, সায়ানোব্যাকটেরিয়া ইত্যাদি প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষের উদাহরণ। তবে বহুকোষী জীবের জীবনের কোন দশা যেমন মিক্সোব্যাকটেরিয়া এবং কোন কোন ব্যাকটেরিয়ার উপনিবেশ (colony) যেমন সায়ানোব্যাকটেরিয়াতেও প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষ দেখতে পাওয়া যায়। প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষ নিয়ে গঠিত জীবদলকে প্রোকেরিয়টস (prokaryotes) বলে। প্রোকেরিয়টস (prokaryotes) শব্দ দুটি গ্রিক শব্দ নিয়ে গঠিত যথা- “pro” অর্থ “before” তথা পূর্ব বা আদি এবং “karyon” অর্থ “nut” তথা বাদাম।

এছাড়াও এদের কোষে সুসংগঠিত ডিএনএ, মাইটোকণ্ড্রিয়া, এন্ডোপ্লাজমিক রেটিকুলাম, লাইসোজোম, গলজি বস্তু অনুপস্থিত। সাধারণত প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষের আকার এক থেকে দশ মাইক্রোমিটার (µm) এর মধ্যে হয়ে থাকে। সাধারণত তিন আকৃতির প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষ দেখতে পাওয়া যায় যথা- গোলাকার (কক্কি, cocci), দণ্ডকার (ব্যাসিলি, baccilli) ও প্যাঁচানো (স্পাইরিলা, spirilla)।

কোন কোন প্রোকেরিয়টিক কোষ ফটোসিনথেটিক রঞ্জক পদার্থ বহন করে যেমন সায়ানোব্যাকটেরিয়া (যা নীল ব্যাকটেরিয়া নামেও পরিচিত)। এছাড়াও অনেক কোষে বহিঃদেহাবরণে সংযুক্ত অবস্থায় চলনের জন্য চাবুকের ন্যায় ফ্লাজেলা (flagella) দেখতে পাওয়া যায় আবার কোন কোন কোষে বহিঃদেহাবরণে লোমের ন্যায় পিলি (pili) দেখতে পাওয়া যায় যা কোন কিছুর সাথে আবদ্ধ হতে বা আটকে থাকতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Prokaryotic cell:
Cells that not have a membrane-bound nucleus are called prokaryotic cell. Cells in the kingdom Monera (or Prokaryota), such as bacteria and cyanobacteria (also known blue-green algae) are the example of prokaryotic cell. Organisms consisting of prokaryotic cell called prokaryotes. The word prokaryote composed with two Greek words “pro” that means “before” and “karyon” that means “nut”.

They don’t have organized chromosomal DNA. Their genetic information is in a circular loop called a plasmid. They also lack the internal structures bound by membranes called organelles, such as Mitochondria, Endoplasmic reticulum, Lysosomes and Peroxisomes, Golgi apparatus etc. Usually prokaryotic cell size is 1-10µm.

They may have photosynthetic pigments, such as is found in cyanobacteria. Some prokaryotic cells have external whip-like flagella for locomotion or hair like pili for adhesion. Mainly three types of shapes are available, such as round (Cocci), rod (Baccilli) and helical shape (Spirilla or Spirochetes).
