Ichthyology is the branch of zoology dealing with fishes.
It deals with mainly fish biology (such as origin, evolution, taxonomy, morphology, physiology, ecology, cell biology, histology, genetics etc.)
The word Ichthyology is consist of two Greek words such as “ikhthus” means “fish” and “logos” means “study”.
মৎস্যবিদ্যা:
জীববিজ্ঞানের যে শাখায় মাছ নিয়ে অধ্যয়ন করা হয় তাকে মৎস্যবিদ্যা বলে।
মৎস্যবিদ্যায় মূলত মাছের জীবতত্ত্ব (উৎপত্তি, বিবর্তন, শ্রেণীবিন্যাস, অঙ্গসংস্থানবিদ্যা, শারীরতত্ত্ব, বাস্তুতন্ত্র, কোষতত্ত্ব, কলাতত্ত্ব, জেনেটিক্স ইত্যাদি) নিয়ে বিজ্ঞানভিত্তিক পাঠ ও গবেষণা করা হয়।
