মনোপ্লয়েড

মনোপ্লয়েড বলতে বোঝায় কেবলমাত্র এক সেট (set) মূল (baisc) বা অনন্য (unique) ক্রোমোজোম বিশিষ্ট। অধিকাংশ প্রোক্যারিওটিক প্রাণীরা (prokaryotes) মনোপ্লয়েড ধরণের। এটি “x” দিয়ে প্রকাশ করা হয়ে থাকে।

অন্যদিকে দেহেকোষে অবস্থিত মূল বা অনন্য ক্রোমোজোমের মোট সংখ্যার অর্ধেক সংখ্যক নিয়ে গঠিত সেটকে হ্যাপ্লয়েড (haploid) বলে। অন্যভাবে বলা যায় ডিপ্লয়েড বা পলিপ্লয়েড জীবের জনন কোষের মোট ক্রোমোজোমের সংখ্যাই হচ্ছে হ্যাপ্লয়েড। এটি “n” দিয়ে প্রকাশ করা হয়ে থাকে।

এখানে, x = এক সেট মূল (basic) বা অনন্য (unique) ক্রোমোজোম। অন্যদিকে n = জনন কোষের মোট ক্রোমোজোম সংখ্যা বা দেহকোষের মোট ক্রোমোজোম সংখ্যার অর্ধেক। তাই ডিপ্লয়েড প্রাণীদের ক্ষেত্রে n ও x সমান হয়ে থাকলেও পলিপ্লয়েড প্রাণীদের ক্ষেত্রে তা আলাদা হয়ে থাকে।

যেমন গ্রাস কার্পের (Grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella) দেহকোষের দুই সেট ক্রোমোজোমের মোট সংখ্যা ৪৮টি (2n=২×২৪=৪৮) অর্থাৎ প্রতি সেটে ২৪টি (n=x=২৪)। একইভাবে এদের জনন কোষে ক্রোমোজোম সংখ্যা ২৪টি (n=x=২৪)। কিন্তু ট্রিপ্লয়েড গ্রাস কার্পের দেহকোষে ক্রোমোজোম রয়েছে তিন সেট অর্থাৎ এদের দেহকোষের ক্রোমোজোম সংখ্যা ৭২টি (3x=৩×২৪=৭২) এবং বাহ্যিক বৈশিষ্ট্যগত দিক থেকে এরা বন্ধ্যা হয়ে থাকে। অন্যদিকে এদের জননকোষে ক্রোমোজোম সংখ্যা হয়ে থাকে ৩৬ যা দেহকোষের ক্রোমোজোম সংখ্যার অর্ধেক অর্থাৎ n=৩৬।

Monoploid:
Monoploid means having only one set of basic or unique chromosomes. These include the vast majority of prokaryotes. The symbol of monoploid is “x”

On the other hand, haploid means having half of the total number of unique chromosomes in a somatic cell of diploid and polyploid organism. The symbol of monoploid is “n”.

In the diploid cell/animal, monoploid number is equal to haploid number that means here n=x. But in polyploidy cell/animal, monoploid number is different to haploid number. For example, the number of a single set of chromosome of grass carp is 24 (x=n=24) that means somatic cell bears 24 pairs (48) of chromosomes and gamete bears 24 chromosomes. But triploid grass carp is functionally sterile and the chromosome number of somatic cell of triploid grass carp is 72 (3x=3×24). On the other hand, chromosome number of triploid grass carp gamete is 36 that means n=36.

Here, x = a set of basic or unique chromosomes. On the other hand, n = half number of chromosomes of somatic cell or total number of chromosomes of gamete.
