Skull of Anapsida [q=quadrate]
কোয়াড্রেট অস্থি (সংক্ষেপে কোয়াড্রেট) হল অধিকাংশ মেরুদণ্ডীর উপরের চোয়ালের (মাথার খুলির) শেষ প্রান্তে (পশ্চাৎ-অঙ্কীয় কিনারায়) অবস্থিত কোমলাস্থি নির্মিত একটি অস্থি বা হাড়। অস্থি-বিশিষ্ট মাছ, উভচর, সরীসৃপ ও পাখিতে এ অস্থির মাধ্যমেই নিচের চোয়াল আটকে থাকে। স্তন্যপায়ীতে এ অস্থি অবলুপ্ত হয়ে মধ্য-কর্ণের ইনকাস নামক হাড়ে পরিণত হয়।
Quadrate bone:
Quadrate bone (in brief, quadrate) is a cartilaginous bone at the posterior-ventral edge of the upper jaw (skull) in most vertebrates. Quadrate forms an articulation with the lower jaw in bony fishes, amphibians, reptiles and birds. It is very much reduced and represented by the incus of the middle ear of mammals.
